The fastest ways to get help or make Planthology better:
⚠️ Important Disclaimer
Planthology calculates travel times and estimates based on your plan data and current location estimates. However, always double-check travel times and routes with a maps app before leaving. The app makes its best guess about your starting location based on your plans, but this could be inaccurate due to GPS uncertainty, location services settings, or unexpected delays. Planthology is a planning tool to help you organize your day; it should not be your only source of travel information. Real-world conditions, traffic, and circumstances may differ significantly from estimates.
FAQ
Why don't I get "time to leave" notifications?
Three things need to be true: the plan has a location, notifications are allowed for Planthology in iOS Settings, and "Leave-by notifications" is on in the app's Settings → Notifications. Setting a home base helps too; it's where your first drive of the day starts from.
What's the Live Activity countdown, and why is it off?
It's an optional Lock Screen / Dynamic Island countdown that appears as your leave-by time approaches. It's off by default to keep things quiet; turn it on in Settings → Notifications.
What's the difference between a plan and a reminder?
A plan has a time and usually a place; it participates in drive-time scheduling. A reminder is just "ping me at this time" for things without an address, with Done / Snooze / Ignore right on the notification.
How do I change how I get somewhere (drive / walk / transit)?
Tap the mode icon on the travel leg above any plan, or set "Getting there" in the plan editor. Leave-by times, notifications, the Live Activity, and the Directions button all follow the mode. Transit estimates are door-to-door (the walk to the station is included), but transit legs don't draw a route line on maps — Apple only provides times there, not shapes.
What's an "Anytime" plan?
A plan for the day with no set time — errands, mostly. Flip on "Anytime" in the plan editor and it sits on the day's Whenever shelf as a check-off list. With two or more located errands, "Plan my loop" finds the fastest order to run them from home and checks traffic across the day for the cheapest window that fits around your scheduled plans; long-press a single errand and choose "When should I go?" to plan just that one. Scheduling the loop turns the errands into normal timed plans.
What do the widgets show?
Two Home Screen widgets: "Planthology Today" shows your progress bar, the next leave-by, and the day's route map; "Errands" lists the day's Whenever shelf with tappable circles — check things off without opening the app, and it syncs up the next time you do. Both update past midnight on their own. There are also Lock Screen variants of the Today widget.
Is my shared trip really private?
Yes. Trips are end-to-end encrypted before upload; the key is only in the invite link you share. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I get the trail search working?
Trail search uses the free National Park Service API. Get a key at nps.gov/subjects/developer (takes about a minute) and paste it in Settings → NPS Trail Search API Key.
How do I free up storage?
Settings → Clean Up History deletes past everyday plans and their photos by month, or everything before today. Trips are never touched.
